Evelyn Dong
Special thanks to Fischer skis and the Mt Bachelor Nordic Center for their on-going support.
An exceptionally talented endurance athlete, Evelyn enters the 09/10 season as one of top dozen female contenders for the U.S. Olympic Team. This will be Evelyn’s fourth season with XC Oregon.
When not skiing: probably mountain biking, climbing or reading
Favorite book: The Brothers K
On the ipod: Lemon Jelly, The Gourds, Calexico
Favorite movie: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
My sister’s and my favorite game when growing up was racing each other, either running or on our banana seat bikes around the neighborhood, so it was only natural to start running track and cross-country. I started skiing in high school when I decided that running indoor track was too mind-taxing. My first year skiing wasn’t great; I think I was 70th at the Massachusetts state meet. I improved a bit and skied for Middlebury College for 3 years before bagging school and started skiing full-time.
